                            HAPPY 10th BIRTHDAY TO US!

We may be on Long Road, but it's a short drive to The Wren's Nest, located in the heart of the Helderbergs, where the Village of East Berne is nestled.

We used to raise natural colored Romney cross sheep to supply our own fiber in addition to other spinning materials.  We have taken a break in anticipation of a new breed, since our area has become flooded with Romney and crosses of them.  We have decided to compliment these fibers with a different variety.  Stay tuned for updates on this front.  In the meantime, we still have beautiful roving, raw fleeces, handspun yarns, and now some very soft llama fiber.  We still have a small flock of hens, offering fresh, healthy, delicious eggs, which will be increased the Spring of 2012 to meet our demand.   Surplus from our garden is also made available.

The Wren's Nest itself was born in April of 2002, and continues to expand.  As we've grown, I've observed the abundance of supplies and classes for knitting, but a lack of the same for those of us with other fiber interests.  So, the mission of The Wren's Nest is to be your source for equipment, supplies, information, education and materials for a variety of fiber arts.  We now carry many new items for the weaver, spinner, crochet enthusiast and more as we continue growing.  I am researching other fields such as lace-making, rug hooking and punching, locker hooking, tatting, needle punch, Swedish weaving, etc.  I am adding books to my inventory for any such crafts.  Let me know what you might be looking for and together we will find it!  We will always try to be the most affordable source for your supplies, too.  Keep checking back in our New Items page as we add more tools of the trade.  We strive to provide only natural based products and materials, tools and equipment to the extent possible.  I am adding more yarns and unique new fibers to spin, as well.

I also offer workshops in weaving using the Continuous Strand Weaving method on frame-looms, weaving demonstrations for a variety of venues, as well as private lessons for weaving and beginning hand-spinning.  Check out our Workshops page for class descriptions and schedules, additional offerings, or to register today!  If something is not currently scheduled, let us know, you may not be alone, and we could schedule it!

You can now see us at two shows a year, bringing our fine products to you!  They are the Chancellor's Sheep and Wool Festival in Clermont, NY in April, and the Southern Adirondack Fiber Festival, Washington County Fairgrounds, NY in September, in its third year this year.  Keep an eye on our Where to Find Us page for details and updates.

In our beautiful new Stable and gorgeous pastures, we offer Boarding for your Equine companions as well.  Check out and keep and eye on our Boarding page for details on this service.  Less than 30 minutes from the Capital Region, Cobleskill, Duanesburg, Bethlehem, Greenville area, we have 100 acres with trails in wooded and open areas with hills and bubbling streams - all private.  We are only minutes away from additional trails on State Land, and hope to offer more trails, including a picnic lunch ride, for those who travel with their four-hooved companions.

Please enjoy browsing our site and feel free to contact us with any questions!
